Garbage and Recycling Center (GRC)
Located on Steward Road, just off of County Highway H, west of Postville Road and near the Town Hall (see map below). All recyclable material is commingled in one container unless identified otherwise. See list below for acceptable items and for alternative resources for items not allowed.
Garbage dumpsters are provided for normal waste including: household trash, carpet (must be bundled/tied and in sections small enough to be handled by one person), small furniture, and food items. Any waste from construction, remodeling, or farm/business use is prohibited except for items listed below.
GRC Supervisors have the right to refuse items that do not follow Town of York guidelines as detailed on this page.
GRC Supervisors have the right to refuse LARGE drop offs as this may limit other residents. Suggest limiting to only six 33-gallon garbage bags (or equivalent) per WEEK.
GRC Supervisors may request resident break down larger items for better use of dumpster space. Please also consider composting at home as an easy way to decrease your waste stream up to 30%!
NOTICE: Per Town of York’s Ordinance Violation (ordinance #16-02), citations and possible forfeitures may be imposed on any resident who violates Town of York’s Recycling Ordinance.
