Town of York
Regular Monthly Board Meeting
Tuesday, July 14, 2015
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. Present were Chairman Dan Reeson, 1st Supervisor Tim Czerwonka, 2nd Supervisor Steve Hermanson, Treasurer Ann Carlson, Clerk Nancy Anderson, Patrolman Wade Jones, recycling supervisors Kim and Cindy Peterson, and citizen Dan Ziehli. Verification of proper notice was given. Steve Hermanson move to approve the June minutes, Tim Czerwonka 2nd the motion. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report– Ann Carlson noted that the Town received Managed Forest Law taxes in the amount of $1430.59 and a State Recycling grant of $884.59.
Bills– Wade Jones and Nancy Anderson presented bills to the Board. Both the Town and Green County portions of the Federal bridge project on Poplar Grove Road are due now and being paid in the amount of $45,888.56 by the Town. The Town will be reimbursed for half that amount by Green County. Dan Reeson move to approve the bills, Steve Hermanson 2nd the motion. Motion carried.
Patrolman’s Report– Wade reported that the cleanup of the June 22nd storm damage to trees on Buckeye Road is almost complete, freeing him up to return to mowing the roadsides. The highway department is scheduled to sealcoat Buckeye Road on Thursday. Fencing materials and posts are needed to help rebuild fence on the Greg Peterson property. Wade is also pricing chips for this winter’s snowplowing needs. Arrangements are being made to paint the tire rims on the Freightliner truck.
Plan Commission–
- The Board received a memo from the PC concerning property transfers. They would like all transfers to be recorded on a special transfer inquiry form before the transfers actually take place. Steve Hermanson will call the Register of Deeds and the local newspaper seeking information that may help us in this matter.
- Another concern of theirs is the Town website being somewhat difficult to navigate and find information quickly. Todd Carlson will attend the September meeting with ideas he has come up with, and in the meantime, Tim Czerwonka and others will email suggestions to him that may help to eliminate the confusion.
Public Comments-None.
Old Business
- Update on fence viewing for Ron Erickson– A certified letter was sent out to the person whose responsibility it is to install a new fence, but the letter was never picked up from the post office in Verona. Dan Reeson will call the Wisconsin Towns Association to determine what the next step should be.
New Business
- Recycling Issues-Kim/Cindy Peterson and Dan Ziehli– Dan Ziehli was denied use of the recycling center a few weeks ago while trying to leave some kitchen cabinets there. Construction materials used in remodeling or new construction are not accepted but rather should either be burned or taken to the Green County Landfill. Kim and Cindy are mostly concerned with people using the recycling center who are not entitled to use the facility. Only those who reside in the Town or own property in the Town with recyclables generated on that parcel(s) are authorized to use the facility. One suggestion that seems to have great appeal to the Board is for each user at the recycling center to display an assigned placard hanging from their vehicle mirror assuring their admittance. Persons would receive a numbered placard and sign for it. It will need to be used each time that person enters the recycling center for drop off. More will be discussed at next month’s meeting.
Adjournment– Steve Hermanson move to adjourn the meeting, Tim Czerwonka 2nd the motion. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 9:23 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Anderson, Clerk
