Regular Monthly Board Meeting
Tuesday, July 10, 2018

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. Present were Chairman Dan Reeson, 1st Supervisor Tim Czerwonka, 2nd Supervisor Steve Hermanson, Treasurer Ann Carlson and Clerk Nancy Anderson. Also present were Dawn Doran, Todd Carlson, Curt Moen, and Debbie Fairbanks. Verification of proper notice was given. Steve Hermanson move to approve the June minutes, Tim Czerwonka 2nd the motion. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report-Ann reported that most salaries and the assessor were paid in June. Also, the truck loan was paid off in the amount of $64,885.10.

Bills– Nancy provided bills to be paid. Dan Reeson move to approve the bills, Steve Hermanson 2nd the motion. Motion carried.

Patrolman’s Report-Wayne has had to clear some trees due to recent rains. More trimming needs to be done. The Board may also consider selling the grader and purchasing something that will prove to be more useful to the Town.

Driveway Permit-Brett Zaretske-Transfer to new owner-After some discussion, the Board decided that Mr. Zaretske will not be allowed to transfer his driveway permit to another owner. He may seek a refund, and the new owner will have to initiate a new driveway permit.

Driveway Refund- Joel Zimmerman– Steve Hermanson move to approve a driveway permit refund to Joel Zimmerman for $1500.00, Dan Reeson 2nd the motion. Motion carried. Kyle Ruden, Kevin Ferguson, Brian Baker, and Bruce Sinkula will be contacted and placed on the August agenda for possible driveway permit refunds.

Plan Commission-Recording Property Transfers on Website-The Board discussed with Dawn Doran, Todd Carlson, and Curt Moen the problems that are occurring as updates are attempted to be made to the website parcel data base. The entire process will have to be simplified, requiring Todd Carlson, the webmaster, to rework the website. Todd will have to first determine the number of man hours and the cost estimate for this simplification.

Public Comments-Nancy read a thank you note to the Board from Plan Commission secretary, Terri Nipple, for their thoughtfulness following the passing of her father.

Old Business

  • New Internet Connection for Real Estate Tax Software Program-According to Ann Carlson, her husband Todd tested the new connection at the Town Hall, and it works just fine. We now simply have to determine the costs for this tax collection update.
  • Toppled Grave Stone at York Cemetery-Tollakson Memorial’s has given the Town an estimate of $1196.00 to move and repair a tombstone damaged last winter during snow removal. Steve Hermanson also contacted Peckman’s in Madison. They will contact Steve when they are working in the area to provide us with a second estimate for the repairs. The Town will make its decision after that.

New Business

  • Ron Erickson-New Glarus Fire District-Ron was not present for the meeting, but a check had been prepared for the Town’s portion of the new addition to the fire house in the amount of $9,055.20 and will be mailed to the fire district.
  • New Allegiant Oil LP Contract-Dan Reeson move to purchase 500 gallons of LP for $1.19 per gallon, Tim Czerwonka 2nd the motion. Motion carried.
  • Sell Extra Town Hall Chairs-Terri Nipple expressed an interest in purchasing the extra chairs. Steve Hermanson move to sell the extra 16 chairs to Terri Nipple for $10 each, Tim Czerwonka 2nd the motion. Motion carried.
  • Damaged Recycling Gate– Pellitteri Waste Systems inadvertently bent and damaged one of the recycling gates and has offered to pay for damages. The gate will need to be replaced. Wayne Bue will purchase and install the new gate.
  • Reschedule August Town Board Meeting– Due to the Fall Primary Election being held on August 14th, the Board chose another evening. Steve Hermanson move to hold the August Board meeting on Wednesday, August 15th at 8:00 P.M., Dan Reeson 2nd the motion. Motion carried.

Adjournment– Steve Hermanson move to adjourn the meeting, Tim Czerwonka 2nd the motion. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 9:28 P.M.
