Town of York, “Clean Up Our Roads” Month
“We envision the Town of York as a rural farm-friendly community maintaining
quality ground water, managed woodlands, wildlife and streams”. These are words
directly from our Comprehensive Plan. The words describe the unique beauty of
our Town. It is, in fact, quite beautiful and is attracting many people to our area.
Our citizens take a lot of pride in our gently sloping hills, winding roads and
wooded areas. This beauty is for all to enjoy, but we must strive to maintain its
wholesomeness for generations to come.
Green County and Town patrolmen have many jobs maintaining our highways and
roads. Picking up unsightly trash and litter certainly cannot be expected of them.
As citizens of the Town of York it is our responsibility to maintain the beauty and
safety along our roads by picking up trash and litter.
Therefore, the month of April has been designated as “Clean Up Our Roads”
month. When taking a stroll along our roads, carry along a plastic bag for refuse.
If taking a leisurely drive, stop to pick up junk that spoils the beauty and
contributes to water pollution. The Town of York belongs to all of its residents.
Let’s show our pride by being conscientious care-takers of our natural resources.
