The Town of York is seeking two replacements for members of the Plan Commission whose terms expire this month, and also an additional person for the Rural Land Conservation Committee. By following the Plan Commission Ordinance which was enacted in 2003, the commission seeks to protect our valuable resources and its residents from future uncontrolled development. Clustering of homes is encouraged as is limiting the fragmentation of income producing cropland for us and future generations.
In 2010 the Plan Commission established both the Rural Land Conservation Program and the Rural Land Conservation Committee. An additional driveway fee and building permit fee had been established at that time, to be used solely for expenditures relating to the Rural Land Conservation Program. All land divisions or developments must be approved by the Commission before moving forward with any plans. Both the Plan Commission and the Land Conservation Committee work closely together. Their work is important to all who reside in York.
If you are a resident of the Town of York and interested in protecting your investment, while helping to preserve our resources and natural beauty, both for today and tomorrow, you are the person we need on our Plan Commission or Rural Land Conservation Committee. If interested in either position, please call Town Clerk Nancy Anderson at 523-4529 to request an application or email.
