Regular Monthly Plan Commission Minutes
November 3rd, 2010
The meeting was called to order and those present were, Curt Moen, Sean Shilling, Heidi Hankley, Kelly Hermanson, Eric Peterson, Carol Helmeid, Bob Helmeid, Nancy Anderson, Dan Reeson, William Kuenze, Jodi Bubenzer, Brian Bubenzer, Nan Rudd, Bob Rudd, Dick Jaeger, Dave Hermanson, Dan Truttman, and Sandy Bubenzer.
The Secretary’s report was read and a motion to approve as read was made by Sean and 2nd by Heidi. Minutes approved.
Coreen Fallot from the DATCP spoke to us about Agricultural Enterprise Areas. At least five eligible farm owner petitioners are required. An eligible farm is one that produced at least $6,000.00 in gross farm revenue during the preceding tax year of this petition, or at least $18,000.00 in gross farm revenues during the three taxable years immediately preceding the year of this petition.
Although there, is no size minimum or maximum. DATCP will give preference to proposed AEA’s of at least 1,000 acres and less than 30,000 acres of land. The DATCP may only designate up to 1million acres as AEA’s statewide. The goal for this petition cycle is 250,000 acres.
The boundary can include only land that is planned for farmland preservation in the county’s certified farmland preservation plan.
Coreen had informational printouts for anyone who was interested. They were, Agricultural Enterprise Areas: Request for Petitions, Agricultural Enterprise Area Petition, Understanding Agricultural Enterprise Areas and the Petition Process.
Motion to adjourn was made by Sean and 2nd by Heidi. Meeting adjourned at 9:04 p.m. Our next meeting will be December 7, 2010.
